Building Trends for 2023

Building Trends for 2023

When it comes to designing your dream home, a quality general contractor is a must. Trends may come and go, but high-quality design never goes out of style. The 2023 St. George Area Parade of Homes delivered an impressive array of style inspirations with their 30 dramatic homes. From those homes, Utah Style & Design came up with some top trends we will see dominating the home building world this year.

  1. New Neutrals – grays and bright whites have been popular for a while, but this year you may want to consider softer tones for your neutrals in your home. Warmer tones such as cream, taupe, and mushroom shades are the new hit, creating a soothing and elegant look while also feeling comfortable and natural.
  2. Interior Arches – Rounded recesses and fixtures and arched doorways are paired with strong, sharp angles to provide an attractive element throughout a home. Utah Style & Design used “ease and comfort” as the adjectives for this look, bringing an inviting style that’s classy and beautiful.
  3. Spa-like Bathrooms – Luxurious bathrooms continue to be at the top of bathroom wish lists. Fully enclosed free-standing tubs with showers are popular, integrating a beautiful look that is also functional. Multiple shower heads, benches, and dimensional tiles are great choices for an upscale bathroom space.
  4. Dimensional Details – Consider slatted walls, reeded surfaces, and fluted glass elements to make a dramatic art-deco home that’s sleek and sophisticated. You can bookend a modern fireplace with built-in shelves backed with slatted walls or add a visual 3D structure tile throughout your kitchen backsplash to create a textural yet timeless feel.
  5. Impressive Butler Pantries - In the past, pantries have been hidden behind closed doors, but today’s butler pantry is designed to be part of the décor and overall kitchen function. We’re seeing open entry ways into these areas with beautiful elements to make it eye catching. A seamless transition from the kitchen to the butler pantry is growing in popularity, and it makes even the most novice cook look like a pro.
  6. Natural Woods – Wood brings an effortless warmth to any home, and designers are putting it all over today. It’s not like the wood paneling of the 70s, but a much more purposeful use that creates a relaxed and comfortable style that’s also chic.
  7. Outdoor Spaces – Today’s homes are prioritizing outdoor living. Moving glass walls, stone floors, fire pits and TVs outside, and fully equipped kitchens with lounge chairs and dining tables under an awning are all gorgeous and fun ways to entertain luxuriously. Whatever square footage you have to work with, creating a unique outdoor living situation for your entertaining needs is something you won’t regret.
